NEW YORK MAN SENTENCED TO 70 MONTHS FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a New York man was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge William J. Nealon to serve 70 months in federal prison for participating in a conspiracy that was responsible for distributing large quantities of cocaine and crack cocaine in the Poconos during 2002-2006.

Carlson stated that Stephan Tiller, age 29, of New York, pleaded guilty to the charge on April 18, 2007. Tiller admitted to supplying cocaine and crack cocaine to several other Monroe County-based drug traffickers during a four-year time period.

Tiller was one of 13 defendants charged in the case which stemmed from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI), the Pennsylvania State Police, and local police in Monroe County. All of the defendants pleaded guilty to drug trafficking offenses.

Judge Nealon also ordered Tiller to be placed on supervised release for five years after serving his prison sentence and to pay a $100 special assessment.

Carlson noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
