MONROE COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 40 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR ILLEGALLY POSSESSING FIREARMS AS A CONVICTED FELON

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Broadheadsville man was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley to serve 40 months in federal prison for illegally possessing firearms as a convicted felon.

Carlson stated that Darryl Turner, age 45, pleaded guilty on November 7, 2007. Turner admitted to possessing firearms on two occasions in January 2007.

Turner was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 23, 2007, as a result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and local police in Monroe County.

Judge Munley also ordered Turner to be placed on three years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence. Turner must also pay a $100 special assessment.

Carlson noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
