NOTICE OF PRESS CONFERENCE

Local Law Enforcement Agencies to Receive Equitable Sharing in a
Drug Conspiracy Case

(Knoxville, TN) - On Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee will hold a press conference at the United States Attorney's Office to distribute to local law enforcement agencies the proceeds of forfeited properties involved in the case of United States v. Tony Stafford. This case has been concluded, and all seized assets have now been processed for distribution to the agencies who participated in the investigation.

The Clinton Police Department, Knox County Sheriff's Department, Loudon County Sheriff's Department and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) were partners in this investigation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Because the Clinton Police Department, Knox County Sheriff's Department and Loudon County Sheriff's Department's roles supported the investigation by the FBI and the United States Attorney's Office, each agency will receive over $40,000 from the proceeds of the seized assets at the press conference.

For more information, contact James R. Dedrick, United States Attorney, Assistant United States Attorney Hugh B. Ward, Asset Forfeiture Paralegal Michelle Young, or Public Information Officer Sharry Dedman-Beard at (865) 545-4167.
