PAUL M. O’BRIEN TO BE SWORN IN AS UNITED STATES ATTORNEY FOR THE MIDDLE DISTRICT OF TENNESSEE

Nashville, TN - August 3, 2007 - United States Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales has appointed Paul M. O’Brien to serve as the Interim United States Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee. Mr. O’Brien replaces Craig S. Morford, who is heading to Washington, D.C., to serve as Acting Deputy Attorney General. Mr. O’Brien will serve as Interim United States Attorney pending the confirmation of a Presidentially appointed U.S. Attorney. The President has nominated local attorney, Ed Yarbrough and his nomination is currently pending with the Senate.

Mr. O’Brien was currently serving as the First Assistant United States Attorney in the Middle District . He has been an Assistant United States Attorney since 1995 and has also worked in the United States Attorney’s Office in Memphis. Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Nashville, Mr. O’Brien served a two- year detail in the Department’s Criminal Division in Washington, D.C.

Mr. O’Brien will be sworn in today at 3:00 P.M. by Chief United States District Judge, Todd Campbell.
