FORT WORTH MAN GUILTY OF BANK FRAUD IN EAST TEXAS
SHERMAN, TX – United States Attorney John L. Ratcliffe announced today that a 37-year-old Fort Worth man has pleaded guilty to bank fraud charges in the Eastern District of Texas.
According to information presented in court, Devereaux was employed as a personal chef for a Dallas-area professional athlete. During the course of his employment, Devereaux altered checks provided to him for payment for his services, increasing the amounts that were originally written on the checks. Devereaux also stole checks from his employer’s residence and drafted them for deposit into his account. Devereaux’s actions caused a loss of $52,800.00.
At sentencing, Devereaux faces up to 30 years in federal prison, a fine of up to $1 million, and restitution to his victim. A sentencing date has not been scheduled.
Special agents from the United States Secret Service are investigating this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Shamoil T. Shipchandler is prosecuting the case.
