MEXICAN NATIONALS SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON
FOR ILLEGALLY BEING IN US

SHERMAN, TX – United States Attorney John L. Ratcliffe announced today that two Mexican Nationals have been sentenced in the Eastern District of Texas for illegally being in the United States.  United States District Judge Richard Schell presided over the sentencing hearings late yesterday.

            JOSE ARMANDO MALAGON-PEREZ, 24, currently residing in Denton, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for being an illegal alien who has been previously deported and has unlawfully re-entered the United States.

           Malagon-Perez was indicted on December 14, 2006.  He had been convicted of a felony offense prior to his first deportation.

CESAR URIOSTEGUI-SALGADO, 27, currently residing in Dallas, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for being an illegal alien who has been previously deported and has unlawfully re-entered the United States.

Uriostegui-Salgado was indicted on November 8, 2006.  He has a criminal history which includes five separate charges for DWI in the United States.

            Assistant U.S. Attorney Michele A. Ratcliffe prosecuted these cases which were the result of investigations by Department of Homeland Security, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The defendants will each be deported upon the completion of their federal prison sentences.
