ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED TO PRISON, DEPORTATION

            (SHERMAN TX)         United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 26-year-old man residing in Dallas has been sentenced for illegally being in the United States.
 
            EUFROCINO RIOS-BENITEZ pleaded guilty to illegally re-entering the United States after having previously been deported and was sentenced today by United States District Judge Richard Schell to 96 months in federal prison.  After serving the term of imprisonment, Rios-Benitez is to be deported from the United States.

            A federal grand jury previously returned a 1-count indictment on October 11, 2007 charging Rios-Benitezwith being an illegal alien that unlawfully reentered the United States.   

            This case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michele A. Ratcliffe.
