Anthony P. Giorno

Mr. Giorno is an Undergraduate of George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1973. He graduated from the College of William and Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law: Juris Doctor in 1976. Law school honors: William and Mary Law Review; National Moot Court team.

From July, 1978 to March, 1995, Mr. Giorno was employed in private practice of law, with emphasis on representing government entities and business organizations. Representative clients included the Patrick County School Board, the Patrick County Board of Supervisors (County Attorney from January 1, 1980 to March, 1995) and the RJ Reynolds- Patrick County Hospital. He also instructed at Patrick Henry Community College teaching courses in Business Law from 1979-1995.

Mr. Giorno also served as Commonwealth's Attorney for Patrick County, Virginia during 1984-1995. Primary responsibilities included prosecution of state criminal offenses (including capital murder), representation of the Commonwealth in appeals to the state intermediate courts and state Supreme Court.

Since March, 1995 Mr. Giorno has been an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia. His primary responsibilities include prosecution of federal felony offenses, with emphasis on violent crime, organizational drug trafficking (to include money laundering and asset forfeiture), firearms offenses, internet crimes (child pornography), child exploitation and obscenity. Also charged with filing written briefs and making oral argument in the courts of appeals. Currently serving collateral duty assignment as an investigator for Department of Justice Equal Employment Opportunity staff. Also during this time, Mr. Giorno is a Law Enforcement Instructor, teaching courses at the Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy (Quantico), and conducting in-service for state, federal and local officers at locations throughout the Commonwealth.
