Rick A. Mountcastle
Assistant United States Attorney
Mr. Mountcastle graduated in 1977 with a B.S. from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1980 he received his J.D. from the National Law Center, George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
From 1980-1984, Mr. Mountcastle was Captain, United States Army JAG Corps (currently Lieutenant Colonel, District of Columbia Army National Guard). In 1985 he was appointed Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and in 1986 he became a Trial Attorney for the Tax Division in the Department of Justice until 1995.
Mr. Mountcastle served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia in our Abingdon branch from 1995 to 2007. Since 2007 he has served as an AUSA in our Roanoke branch.
