Donald R. Wolthuis
Assistant United States Attorney

Mr. Wolthuis graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1977 (Member: Phi Beta Kappa). In 1980, he received a J.D. Degree from the College of William and Mary School of Law, Williamsburg, Virginia.
Don began his career as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Roanoke, Virginia from 1980-1984. He then joined the law firm of Martin, Hopkins, Lemon and Carter P.C. in Roanoke, Virginia as an Associate, then became a Parter until 1990.
In 1990, Don was sworn in as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, and is currently the Deputy Criminal Chief and Director of the Narcotics and Illegal Firearms Unit. Don works closely with federal, state and local law enforcement authorities to develop and implement sound strategies to successfully combat narcotics trafficking and illegal weapons.
