COLCHESTER MAN SENTENCED FOR GUN VIOLATION
The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that Malcolm Lewis, 30, of Colchester, Vermont, was sentenced yesterday in United States District Court in Burlington, Vermont, to serve 6-months imprisonment, to be followed by four-months home confinement as part of a two-year term of supervised release, following his guilty plea to being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Chief United States District Judge William K. Sessions III also ordered that Lewis pay a $100 special assessment.
According to court records, in or about July 2004, Lewis, who at the time had previously been convicted of the felony of attempted robbery, possessed a firearm. The firearm that Lewis possessed had an obliterated serial number.
United States Attorney Thomas D. Anderson commended the efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms in investigating the case. Lewis was represented by Assistant Federal Public Defender Robert Fellrath. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Barbara Masterson.
