WINOOSKI MAN CHARGED WITH COCAINE TRAFFICKING
The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that on March 27, 2008, Shannon Tomasovich, 37, of Winooski, Vermont, appeared in federal court and entered a not guilty plea to a one count indictment, charging possession of cocaine on November 7, 2007, with the intention to distribute. Tomasovich was released on conditions. No trial date was set.
The United States Attorney emphasizes that the charges contained in the indictment are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty. If he is convicted, Tomasovich faces a maximum possible term of imprisonment of 20 years, however the actual sentence in the event of a conviction will be determined in accordance with the federal sentencing guidelines. Tomasovich is represented by Assistant Public Defender Robert Fellrath.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Burlington Police Department. The prosecutor is AUSA Paul Van de Graaf.
