Louisiana

The waivers of the credit counseling requirement in the Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana have been terminated based on a determination that credit counseling services are adequate to serve bankruptcy filers in those districts. To be eligible to file for bankruptcy relief on or after March 10, 2008, in these two districts, individuals are required to obtain pre-bankruptcy credit counseling in accordance with 11 U.S.C. § 109(h)(1).

The temporary waiver of the credit counseling requirement for bankruptcy filers in the Eastern District of Louisiana is extended until further notice due to the continued effects of Hurricane Katrina.
