The United States Trustee Program, a component of the U.S. Department of Justice, consists of twenty-one geographical regions and began as a pilot program on October 1, 1979. The Bankruptcy Judges, United States Trustees, and Family Farmer Bankruptcy Act of 1986 authorized national implementation. Region 5 commenced operations on November 19, 1988, and has jurisdiction over all bankruptcy cases filed on or after October 1, 1979.

Biographies

R. Michael Bolen
R. Michael Bolen, an attorney in the Jackson, Mississippi office, was appointed the fourth United States Trustee for Region 5 on June 2, 2002. Mr. Bolen is the first Mississippian to serve as the United States Trustee for Region 5.
Janice Chenier Taylor
Janice Chenier Taylor, an Assistant U. S. Trustee in New Orleans, was appointed the third United States Trustee for Region 5 and served until June 2, 2002.
Victoria Young
Victoria Young, an Assistant U. S. Trustee in Shreveport, was appointed the second United States Trustee for Region 5 and served until February 1995.
William F. Baity
William F. Baity was the first United States Trustee in Region 5 and served until July 1991, at which time he was named the Deputy Director of the United States Trustee Program. Mr. Baity also served as Acting Director of the United States Trustee Program for 11 months. Mr. Baity was an Assistant United States Attorney in New Orleans before his appointment.
