In an effort to assist those individuals who have been affected by this case, this webpage has been developed to provide court and case related information. This does not replace written notification to those identified as victims of the charged offenses (which currently include distribution, receipt, and possession of child pornography), it simply provides an additional resource from which to obtain information.

10/12/2021 - Defendant Zeidler was sentenced by the court to a term of imprisonment of 180 months.   Upon release from prison the defendant will be on supervised release by the United States Probation Department for a term on 60 months.


7/8/2021 - Michael Zeidler entered a plea of guilty before the Honorable Arthur J. Tarnow.   A Sentencing Hearing has been scheduled for October 12, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.

5/26/2021 - The Plea Hearing for Michael Zeidler has been re-scheduled for July 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. before the Honorable Arthur J. Tarnow.

5/27/2020 - The Status Hearing scheduled to take place on June 24, 2020 and the Trial scheduled to begin on July 6, 202 have been rescheduled by the Court.

3/10/2020 -  The scheduled Status Conference did not take place in open court.  Defendant Zeidler, instead, appeared before Magistrate Judge Grand for the Arraignment of the Third Superseding Indictment. 

A tentative Trial date has been scheduled to begin on July 6, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.  The trial will take place before the Honorable Arthur J. Tarnow in Courtroom 107, United States District Court, 231 W. Lafayette, Detroit, MI 48226.

2/5/20 - A Third Superseding Indictment is returned by the Grand Jury against defendant Zeidler.

2/10/2020 - A Motion Hearing has been scheduled for February 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. before the Honorable Arthur J. Tarnow.   This hearing will address an outstanding matter regarding the superseding indictment and the addition of criminal charges.

1/8/2020 - A Second Superseding Indictment is returned by the Grand Jury against defendant Zeidler.

12/10/2019 - Defendant Zeidler was arraigned on the Superseding Indictment.   Judge Arthur J. Tarnow scheduled a final Pretrial Conference to take place on January 27, 2020 at 3:30 p.m.  

A tentative Trial has been scheduled to begin on February 4, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.

12/5/2019 -  A Superseding Indictment is returned by the grand jury for defendant Zeidler.  The Superseding Indictment adds 3 counts of Production of Child Pornography to the charges in the original indictment. 

An indictment is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt.  The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

10/23/2019 - On 10/22/2019 the court adjourned the tentative plea date originally scheduled for October 23, 2019.   The new date scheduled for a tentative plea/status conference is December 9, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.  This hearing will take place before the Honorable Arthur J. Tarnow in courtroom 218.   This courtroom is subject to changes so please contact Sandy Palazzolo, Victim Witness Coordinator, United States Attorney's Office at 313-226-9633 one day prior to the scheduled hearing to confirm the date, time and courtroom number.


On February 5, 2019  Michael Zeidler was indicted on one count of Distribution of Child Pornography; one count of Receipt of Child Pornography; and one count of Possession of Child Pornography.  A tentative plea date has been scheduled for October 23, 2019 11:00 a.m. before the Honorable Arthur J.
