2018 Courtroom Testimony Training in Cocoa
The USAO MDFL just completed its inaugural class of “Courtroom Testimony” training. This course has been designed to train first-line officers, detectives, and task force officers on how to articulate facts in a courtroom or deposition setting in a professional and accurate manner as a means to successful prosecution. Course topics include the preparation and production of required documentation; discovery obligations relating to testifying law enforcement witnesses; types of examinations; courtroom demeanor and attire; witness credibility; preliminary hearings, depositions, motions hearings, and trials; testifying; defense counsel courtroom tactics; and mock trial practical exercises. Experienced prosecutors and law enforcement officers teach this course that pairs classroom teaching and hands-on mock trial exercises. The second round of “Courtroom Testimony” training is scheduled for later this month in Collier County.
