Chasing the Dragon Screening in Orange County
The USAO MDFL joined Orange County Government and the Office of the Medical Examiner to present a private screening of Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict. The 45-minute documentary film profiles the stories of individuals who have either abused opiates or had family members become addicts. It profiles the cycle of addiction and looks at the tragic consequences associated with opioid abuse.
Carol Burkett from the Orange County Office of Drug Free Partnership kicked off the event, along with Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany. USAO Community Outreach Specialist Khalilah Escalera provided an overview of the film and welcomed panelists AUSA Embry Kidd, FBI Special Agent Kevin Kaufman, DEA Group Supervisor Mark Grey, Captain Carlos Espinosa (Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Narcotics Unit), and Dr. Harbinder Ghulldu from Central Florida Counseling & Recovery Centers. The panelists discussed current trends and answered questions from the audience.
