Volunteering at the 2017 Cleveland Elementary School Community Field Day Event
For the third year in a row, employees from the U.S. Attorney's Office participated in the Cleveland Elementary School Annual Community Field Day Event. This year, criminal AUSAs Lisa Thelwell and Mike Gordon spoke with the students about gun safety and administered the “Student Pledge Against Gun Violence.” Other community partners included Tampa Fire Rescue; lifeguards from the City of Tampa who discussed water safety; Hillsborough County School Security Officer White who schooled students on making positive choices by way of one of his infamous rap songs; and the ladies from the Tampa Bay Inferno football team who created an obstacle course for the kids. The DJ kept the party moving, and the tug-of-war, jump ropes, face painting, and inflatable obstacle course rounded out the day's activities. We had a blast and look forward to participating again next year.
