Training During National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month

Tampa Bay Area Human Trafficking Task Force

January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. On January 13, 2021, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, in conjunction with the Tampa Bay Human Trafficking Task Force, hosted "Criminal Street Gangs and Sex Trafficking: How to Build Federal Human Trafficking RICO Investigations & Prosecutions,"  a districtwide training. This training provided prosecutors and law enforcement officers with the necessary tools to investigate and prosecute gang-motivated sex trafficking cases.

Due to the virtual nature of the event, our target audience expanded way beyond the Tampa Bay area. More than 200 state, local, and federal prosecutors and law enforcement officers participated in the webinar. The attendees represented 8 different prosecuting offices and 35 different law enforcement agencies, from Puerto Rico to Jacksonville and almost everywhere in between.
