Criminal Division

The Criminal Division in the Southern District of Texas is among the busiest in the nation. The Division is comprised of approximately 200 AUSAs working in Houston, Corpus Christi, McAllen, Laredo, Brownsville, Galveston and Victoria. Federal investigative agencies working reactive and long-term investigations refer criminal matters to the SDTX. In addition, state and local law enforcement agencies refer matters for prosecutive consideration, as do businesses and corporations. The responsibility to prosecute criminal violations of the laws of the United States requires us to closely with investigative agencies to ensure a coordinated and effective law enforcement response to the problems of crime and violence in the district and in the nation. AUSAs in the Criminal Division prosecute a wide variety of criminal activity to include offenses involving fraud, public corruption, illegal immigration, national security, violent crime, human trafficking, organized crime and drug trafficking.
