Programs

The Office's major special programs and initiatives include:

Victim/Witness Assistance

Victim/Witness Assistance
Victims of crime may experience feelings of confusion, frustration, fear and anger. The Office's Victim/Witness Unit is dedicated to making sure that victims of federal crimes and their family members are treated with compassion, fairness and respect.

Project Safe Childhood

Project Safe Childhood
Project Safe Childhood (PSC) is a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 that aims to combat the proliferation of technology-facilitated sexual exploitation crimes against children. The threat of sexual predators soliciting children for physical sexual contact is well-known and serious; the danger of perpetrators who produce, distribute, and possess child pornography is equally dramatic and disturbing.

Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee

Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee
The Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC) sponsors and co-sponsors training seminars for federal, state and local law enforcement agencies addressing a variety of subjects.

Project Safe Neighborhoods

Project Safe Neighborhood
Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is designed to create safer neighborhoods through a sustained reduction in crime associated with gangs and gang violence and violent offenders. The program’s effectiveness is based on the cooperation of local, state and federal agencies engaged in the unified approach led by the United States Attorney in each district. The United States Attorney’s Office establishes collaborative PSN task forces to implement gang and gun control enforcement, intervention, and prevention initiatives throughout the district. The five design features of PSN are partnerships, strategic planning, training, outreach and accountability to address specific gun and gang crime in the most violent neighborhoods. The work of the task forces is supplemented by grant programs administered by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance.
