Project Safe Childhood

Project Safe Childhood

Our office helps to protect Iowa kids by aggressively prosecuting Internet (and other) child predators and by educating kids, parents, and others about better avoiding such dangers on the Internet.

The U.S. Department of Justice established Project Safe Childhood in 2006 as a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online sexual exploitation and abuse. U.S. Attorney’s Offices like ours work with local, state, and federal law enforcement to investigate and prosecute cases involving sexual exploitation of children over the Internet.

Because we cannot speak to every child, we encourage you to read and distribute the Safety Tips for Parents and Safety Tips for Kids posted below. You can also read and distribute the one-page letter our office asked elementary school principals to distribute to parents of elementary aged children throughout the Northern District of Iowa. We hope parents (and others including grandparents and teachers) will help us talk about Internet safety with their child or children so that every Iowa child will be better protected from online predators.
