Civil Rights Program

The Office’s Civil Rights Program helps enforce federal civil rights laws within the Northern District of West Virginia. The scope of federal civil rights protections is broad, and includes laws aimed at addressing housing discrimination, equal educational opportunities, disability access, and more. However, our office does not represent individuals and cannot be your lawyer. For more information on the Department of Justice’s authority to enforce civil rights laws, please visit the website of the Civil Rights Division at: https://www.justice.gov/crt

We welcome information concerning possible violations of federal civil rights laws. If you would like to file a complaint, please do so by using our complaint form. Our office reviews each complaint it receives.
