Teresa A. Moore was appointed as the United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri by the United States District Court effective April 25, 2022.  Teresa had been serving as the United States Attorney following her appointment by Attorney General Merrick Garland on December 26, 2021.  Before that time, she was serving as Acting United States Attorney under the Vacancies Reform Act since March 1, 2021. 

Teresa previously served the district as the First Assistant United States Attorney. Before being named First Assistant, Teresa was the Chief of the Computer Crimes and Child Exploitation Unit, where she prosecuted child pornography offenses, online child enticement cases, human trafficking cases involving commercial sex trafficking and labor trafficking, and computer intrusions. 

Teresa is a 1992 graduate of the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law.  During her third year of law school Teresa worked as an intern for the Jackson County, Missouri, Prosecutor’s Office, and based on that experience, went on to become a career prosecutor. 

Teresa has been with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri since 2010. Prior to her move to the United States Attorney’s Office, she was a supervisor at the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, where she led a team that prosecuted violent crimes and drug offenses.
