Steering Committee

The DOJ Environmental Justice Enforcement Steering Committee was convened by OEJ to ensure that the principles of the Comprehensive Environmental Justice Enforcement Strategy are implemented. The Steering Committee will meet regularly to provide leadership, support, and guidance regarding implementation of the Strategy, and may also make recommendations to DOJ leadership about any aspects of the Department’s environmental justice enforcement efforts. The Steering Committee will be co-chaired by the Assistant Attorneys General of the Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD) and the Civil Rights Division, or their designees. It includes representatives from the Office of the Attorney General, the Office of the Deputy Attorney General and the Office of the Associate Attorney General, as well as ENRD, the Civil Rights Division, the Civil Division, the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, the Office of Justice Programs, the Office of Tribal Justice, the Office of Access to Justice, the Community Relations Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Eastern District of Louisiana U.S. Attorneys Office, the Southern District of New York U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Eastern District of Washington U.S. Attorneys Office, the Department’s law enforcement agencies, and other relevant components. The Steering Committee will help ensure coordination among the components and offices within the Department.
