Sherriann Moore

Sherriann Moore, enrolled member of the Rosebud “Sicangu” Lakota Tribe in South Dakota, is deputy director of OVW’s Tribal Affairs Division. She provides federal leadership, national oversight, and guidance for Tribes and tribal organizations to strengthen their capacity to end violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women. This encompasses administration of tribal funds and programs; enhancing the safety of American Indian and Alaska Native women from domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, homicide, stalking, and sex trafficking; strengthening the federal response to such violent crimes; and improving access to local, regional, state, and federal crime information databases and criminal justice information systems to address violence in our nation’s tribal and urban Indian communities. Sherriann is responsible for meeting the statute that directs the Attorney General to solicit recommendations from Indian tribes at an annual consultation concerning the above-referenced topic areas.

Prior to joining OVW, Sherriann worked for five years in research administration at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She also spent 16 years working at the Department of Health and Human Services Indian Health Service.

Sherriann earned her master’s degree in health services administration from the University of South Dakota. She is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute’s Leadership for a Democratic Society.
