Project Guardian

Project Guardian Seal

Created in 2019, Project Guardian is a nationwide federal initiative designed to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws across the country.  Project Guardian is focused on investigating, prosecuting, and preventing gun crimes.  Project Guardian draws on the Department of Justice’s earlier achievements, such as the “Triggerlock” program, and it serves as a complementary effort to the success of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). In addition, the initiative emphasizes the importance of using all modern technologies available to law enforcement to promote gun crime intelligence.  In the Southern District of California, the Project Guardian Point of Contact is assigned to the Violent Crimes & Human Trafficking Section.  The District’s inaugural Project Guardian Summit is scheduled for March 4-5, 2020.
