International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) News

On March 8, in honor of International Women’s Day, the ICITAP Engaging Multinational Police Women on Equality and Rights (EMPoWER) team joined counterparts from the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Counterterrorism to release a three-part podcast episode, which highlights both Departments’ joint work in advancing the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda.

On February 29, the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE)/Community Oriented Policing (COP) Project, in cooperation with the Indonesian National Police (INP) Densus 88 Unit, delivered the Four Pillars training program, a CVE initiative, in Tasikmalaya City.  

On February 28, the ICITAP-Balkans Regional CT Team provided an update on its efforts to develop correctional intelligence units in Bosnia-Herzegovina and in Serbia.

On February 23, ICITAP’s Global Forensic Science Unit provided an update on its partnership with and assistance to Costa Rica’s Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS) within the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ). 

From February 18 to 22, the Engaging Multinational Police Women on Equality and Rights (EMPoWER) program delivered a 5-day Gender and Leadership in Counterterrorism Symposium for Jordan’s Public Security Directorate (PSD).

On February 18, an ICITAP-mentored Bangladesh Police (BP) Inspector reached 1.8 million followers on Facebook. It has been five years since the BP Inspector received his first visit from an ICITAP Strategic Communications / Senior Law Enforcement Advisor on February 18, 2019.

On February 14, 2024, an ICITAP Site Manager attended the National Police College’s 30^th Founding Anniversary with the theme “NPC @30: Perlas ng Karunungan, Kaagapay sa Bagong Pilipinas” (Pearls of Wisdom, Partner in the New Philippines) in Camp Mariano, Cavite. 

On February 7, at the invitation of the General Director of the Albanian State Police (ASP), ICITAP-Albania joined Government of Albania dignitaries and international law enforcement officials in recognition of the 18^th General Police patrol graduation held at Police Professional College, on the grounds of the Security Academy in Tirana. 

On January 26, ICITAP completed a two-week instructor development program and graduated 29 master-trainers from the Pakistani Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the State Bank of Pakistan, and local prosecutors from the province of Punjab, Pakistan.

From January 22 to 24, in Bogotá, ICITAP with the support and funding from the U.S Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), and with the participation of nine investigators from the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and the Colombian National Police (CNP) through a mentoring session, assisted participants to develop the image of homicide crimes.

On January 16, the Forensic Science Laboratory of the Belize National Forensic Science Services (BNFSS) launched JusticeTrax, their new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to support digitalization of their operations.

On January 8, the ICITAP-Albania mission commenced the first iteration of a newly designed eight-week Police Inspection Training Program in partnership with the Albanian Police Oversight Agency (POA).
